The ramblings of an online mogul...

The Blogging Craze

Blogging is the internet’s newest surprise. Just when it appeared that the net was on track for exclusive corporate commercialization, blogging came along and detoured the whole hurtling freight train of money. Many consider this new phenomenon of blogging to be the Great Equalizer. Creative and considerate and charismatic people are now able to bypass the usual corporate content publishers such as magazine editors, music labels, television executives and deliver work to their awaiting audiences.

If you haven’t allowed yourself to wander beyond your usual favourite web sites, you’ll be surprised to find that the number of online journals, photo albums, music galleries, artist portfolios, and other personal sites that have exploded in number. Thousands of people every day are discovering services and applications that make it easy to publish and distribute their creativity. As a result, new and original content is flooding the web, and creating an internet renaissance.

Even if you’ve just started blogging, it’s still a great time to understand the significance of the blogging phenomenon. Learn how people around the world are using blogging to cast off commonly accepted publishing procedures and keep all the profits of their own work. Today, you too can follow the same path.

Chitika Blog Dollars StudyChitika recently revealed the results of their Blog Dollars Study. A first ever attempt to estimate the net revenue from the top 50,000 blogs ranked by Technorati in 2006. They estimated a total revenue of $500 million in that one year alone. However, it turns out that the top 15% of the monitored blogs accounted for 90% of total revenue. Which means that around 7500 were averaging $60,000 in 2006.

Whilst the whole appraisal was expected sooner or later with the whole blogging trend, it would be very interesting to know what the future holds for these high performing blogs.

Content Is KING!

As search engines and their ever-complicated algorithms evolve, one clear pattern is emerging brighter than any light at the end of a tunnel. That is, content reaping greater importance within cyberspace. The internet contains vast amounts of information, and it’s not uncommon to hear people claim that you can practically find anything on the web. Nowadays, with the rise of search engine use to locate specific information, the big online names are competing for market dominance with their sophisticated technology in bringing you quality information with a click of a button. The more useful a search engine is at finding what surfers search for, the more frequently it will be used. This is one of the main reasons why Google have stormed the show over the last few years, and are still a mile ahead of all the other search engines.

Now, it is quite difficult to get traffic on a new site. But of course there are ways of getting around it. A very basic site with quality, unique content becomes a link magnet. By this, I mean, you will attract many other websites that will automatically link to your site, so that their readers can benefit from your content. These one-way or inbound links are adored by search engines, thus, they will look at your website in a different manner. For every link to your site, you are gaining a vote for search engine importance, which will ultimately boost your website’s search engine ranks. As a result, traffic will follow faster than you can blink!

Home Business – Affiliate Marketing

Don’t Quit Your Day Job Just Yet!!

It’s quite difficult to get honest opinions and reviews on home business products online, especially considering that affiliates will be promoting to earn commissions out of every sale. Therefore, their judgment becomes somewhat biased. We’ve all seen the outrageous over-marketed ‘make hundreds of thousands of dollars’ ads one too many times, enough to figure that their just a whole big bunch of ludicrously annoying cr*p. Sure, there are some genuine affiliate marketing big shots who’ve made it on the hall of fame, but the overriding question remains, is it as simple as buying a miracle working “make money online” ebook, following the simple steps and admiring the size of your new found fat commission checks? I don’t think making money online was ever made to be so easy or at least not for the long-term. If it was, firstly no-one would really want to tell you and secondly everyone would be doing it!

The undeniable truth, if I may, is that for every affiliate marketing success, perhaps thousands have failed. And this earth-shattering truth will continue to go ignored for quite some time. I admire people who try and actually encourage utilizing the best skills and experience, which can in turn be employed for great rewards. Nonetheless, it’s important to be realistic in one’s approach and you are far more likely to be successful if you work on familiar grounds. Unless of course, you’re determined enough to put in long, hard hours to learn a completely new field or topic from scratch. It takes time, some money and a bit of experimenting to make affiliate marketing work. There are no golden rules for this art. It requires somewhat independent research and techniques you need to put in practice to figure out what works with which programs and what doesn’t.
