Wholesaling and dropshipping is a great avenue to make some
extra money. A lot of product resellers are individuals who
either make an few extra bucks selling their favourite items
over eBay or make a full blown living by sourcing incredible
items in demand.
To get started, you should decide on what you want to sell and
then make your way into some basic research about the product;
how well it sells or can sell on your targeted marketplaces
such as eBay, Amazon and even your own website eStore with a
bit of advertising. We would all ideally prefer an online
store full of wide variety hot consumer products. But for
starters, it’s recommended to begin with one or two products
that interest you, just to gain the experience, and a bit of
cash preferably.
For example if you are into fitness, like myself, you might
want to start researching boxing gloves, karate gear, or even
weight benches. If you stick to an area you know and
understand you’ll be able to find better values and write
better reviews. The more passionate you are about an area the
better you’ll do because people will see you as an expert in
the field and trust you more.
The next phase involves sourcing your products. This can be a
difficult part unless you’re really lucky or someone reveals
their sources to you. It would be best to get your products
from wholesalers or intermediaries as close to the
manufacturers as possible. The closer a wholesale company is
to a retailer, the more expensive the prices are likely to be.
The closer the wholesaler to a manufacturer on the other hand,
the cheaper the items will be. This is because everytime
products are sold, they’re usually sold for profit, the more
wholesalers and other middle-men in the chain, the more
expensive products become. So you may want to make sure the
wholesaler you’re looking into is a real wholesaler and not a
distributor or you won’t get the wholesale price you want.
From my experience, I have found investing some money joining
a reputable wholesale directory to be very worthwhile and
time-saving. There are only a few good ones on the internet,
and once I join, this is where I get dozens upon dozens of
genuine wholesalers and dropshippers. Some better than others,
so you’ll have to look around a bit. A good wholesale
directory lists only authentic and genuine wholesalers with
true wholesale prices. In fact, a company like Worldwide
Brands actually test and qualify suppliers before enlisting
them within their massive database. That’s why, I would only
trust the big and reputable names out there.
Important
Tips:
v Never
buy from anyone who asks to be paid via Western Union. When
these cons run away with your money, it’ll become almost
impossible to trace them.
v
Never use
a payment service that looks like anything quite like Escrow,
other than Escrow.com themselves. You can rest assured they
are very legitimate and trustworthy. They are even recommended
and verified by eBay. I read that Escrow will handle
transactions in any country except Romania and Indonesia, due
to high security breaches. Fraud is so epidemic in those
countries that Escrow were actually forced to retract their
services.
v
Smart ways
to pay sellers:
1) Credit
Card – most
credit card companies will refund your money if you file a
fraud complaint.
2) Escrow
– protects both buyer and seller. They actually hold on to the
money until you verify that you’ve received your items, only
then do they release the funds to your recipients.
3)
PayPal
– most commonly safe and used by many millions. Usually safe
for transactions within $2000, anything above that, be very
careful. PayPal take all the sellers details, including credit
cards to verify the seller’s address, banking information and
identity. I don’t recommend sending money to “unverified”
sellers. That’s a red flag. If they are legitimate, they will
likely be verified!
